PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College softball Head Coach Jill Karwoski announced today (Dec. 10) that four student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence as a member of the softball team. The Friars' class of 2020 consists of Victoria Grifone (Sussex, N.J.), Natalie Orchard (Walla Walla, Wash.), Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) and Lyndsey Evix (Cumberland, Md.).
 
Grifone, a pitcher, currently attends Vernon Township High School. In over 400 innings of work, she has tallied an area best 713 strikeouts. Grifone was named New Jersey Herald's 2018 Softball Player of the Year with a 54-11 overall record as a team. At the plate, she posted 74 hits and 48 RBI throughout her high school career. She is a three-time All-NJAC and All-Area West Jersey NJ Herald selection. In 2016, Grifone was a third team All-Group Two All-State selection before receiving Second Team honors in her sophomore season and First Team honors in her junior season.
 
"We are excited Tori is choosing to spend her next four years in Friartown! With her admirable work ethic on and off the field, she will undoubtedly make an immediate impact on the mound and at the plate."
 
Orchard, an outfielder, played for College Place High School while being a member for the Washington Ladyhawks in her showcase seasons. She was a unanimous All-League First Team selection in her previous three seasons, while being named first team All-State the last two years. Orchard batted over .700 through her junior season while leading the school in doubles and triples. She holds the high school record for fewest strike outs, highest season and career batting average and number of extra base hits in a season.

"As a dynamic outfielder, Natalie has the ability to cover a lot of ground while providing depth to our offense from the left side. She is a smart player that will help us reach our goal to win the Big East."
 
Harrington, a utility player began her career at Bedford High School before finishing her high school career Phillips Academy. In her sophomore season, she was an All-State selection while being a state finals runner-up. She was named an All-Scholastics NEPSAC All-Star her junior year while captaining the team her senior campaign. Harrington led the team in RBI's during her sophomore season at Phillips Academy, leading the team in hits (30) and RBI's (29) the following season. In her showcase season, she plays for the Polar Crush Gold.
 
"Jacque has the ability to play multiple positions on the field with her high softball IQ, including short stop, catcher and outfield. Her athleticism will undoubtably be a valuable part of our success in the upcoming years." 
 
Evix will join the team as a catcher from Alleghany High School in Cumberland, Md. She was named the Offensive Player of the Year in her conference in 2017, an All-Conference selection in 2018 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. She led her high school team in RBI's through her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons with a total of 93. Heading into her senior season she has a .531 batting average. In 2018, her high school team went undefeated for the first time in history. Evix plays for the Tri-State Thunder Gold and helped the team place ninth in the ASA Gold Nationals in Plano, Texas.
 
"With her contagious enthusiasm for Friartown, Lyndsey will be able to make an immediate impact with her strong offense and mobility behind the plate," Karwoski said.
 
The Providence College softball team opens its season on Feb. 14 in Houston, Texas against Houston Baptist at 2:30 p.m.
